ILI C personality type is INTP, which stands for Intuitive-Thinking-Perceiving. This type is characterized by a strong need to understand, including a need to understand the inner workings of the mind and body. They also have a need to be alone, and can be easily distressed by social situations. INTPs are generally exacting, logical thinkers who enjoy a wide range of interests and activities. They often have a strong interest in sciences, technology, philosophy, and mathematics.
INTPs are the type most likely to be diagnosed with autism. According to the latest edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV), the diagnostic criteria for autism include "difficulty with social communication and social interaction" and "difficulty with imaginative play or making things up."
Based on this criteria, INTPs are very likely to receive an autism diagnosis. Studies show that between four and nine percent of the general population is diagnosed with autism. Other studies indicate that among mental health professionals, autism rates run between 10 and 15 percent.
