They try to avoid emotional entanglements because they feel that they will become emotional when things get too emotional. They like to be alone, but they like to interact with others in order to solve problems. They want to achieve their goals in life, but they do not like to force their will on others.
The INTP is different than the INTJ in the sense that the INTP wants to accomplish something with his life while the INTJ is more interested in living life in order to achieve something.
