ESTJ (1w9)

I've talked to many ESTJ guys who are very neurotic and lazy , and I've heard from many ESTJs who say they're "not neurotic or lazy." I'm not sure what I'm seeing here.

Here's what I've noticed:

ESTJs generally prefer to do things on their own, but they usually like to get help when they need it. They like to be in control of their surroundings, but they don't like confrontation. They seem to be the type that would rather avoid conflicts at all costs, or at least not have them escalate too much. They probably do most of their "thinking" internally, but when they do talk, they tend to come up with ideas that are very straight-forward. They're usually very confident, though they may not be the most articulate. They are probably also very observant about other people's reactions and emotions.

Here's where I get confused:

I've had three ESTJ men who were all very neurotic and lazy... but only one of them was an actual ESTJ.
