Sci-fi personality type is INTP, but as I type this I have a hunch that ENTP is more likely. To be sure, ISTP is a natural fit for Dune (which has been cited as one of the most influential sci-fi books of all time), but I’m not sure if this is the case.
With all the sci-fi movies and books that I’ve seen, watched and read, I can’t think of any other book series or movie series that I was so strongly drawn to as a child that I’ve had to re-read them again in adulthood. I haven’t even read The Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit.
I have to wonder if people who read the book in the 70s and 80s didn’t like it because they didn’t understand it. The book is dense, challenging, strange and abstract. It’s almost impossible to summarize in a few sentences what it’s about.
So why do people love it? For me, I think it’s because it has that perfect balance of science fiction, fantasy and allegory. It’s intelligent, imaginative and deep.
Sci-fi (short for science fiction) is a genre that showcases scientific and technological elements in its story. Machines and various kinds of technologies are staples of this genre. Most of the time, its focus is on the advancement and development of science and technology. That is why you’ll often find sci-fi combined with subgenres such as mecha and space.
