Here's a little anecdote about my inspiration for this story.
I'm currently in the process of getting my house painted. It's a big old Victorian house that we've been living in for over 10 years. The paint job is taking forever.
I have a little helper named Danni. She's a rescue dog and she has severe obsessive compulsive disorder. She has to lay down every single time we paint. The biggest trouble is that she doesn't want to get up until we are done painting, which is going to take ages! I've tried to keep her occupied with toys and stuff but it hasn't worked so well.
So when I was writing this story I had this little idea that I could use a character who has OCD and that would help to keep Danni occupied while we paint the house.
