Johannes Thomae Bureus Agrivillensis (born Johan Bure; 1568–1652) was a Swedish polymath, antiquarian, mystic, royal librarian, poet, and tutor and adviser of King Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden. He was a self-proclaimed prophet, a well-known exponent of Gothicism, and had a great interest in Rosicrucianism and related spiritual fields.
He was also Sweden's first national archaeologist and first head of Sweden's national library. He was the first to document runes and utilized his esoteric knowledge to devise a runic system of his own, which he named "Adalruna". He has been called the father of Swedish grammar, and one of his many literary works was published in 1611, the first Swedish alphabet book by the name of "Runa ABC".
