Shabir Yusuf (born Shabir Mian Yusuf, 1954) is a British author, broadcaster, and lecturer. He is a Muslim of Pakistani origin.
In 2010 he published his first novel, The Book of Muhammad, which describes the life of Muhammad in moving detail and is based on his own research and knowledge of Islam. The book received positive reviews. It received a positive review from The Times newspaper which said: "In The Book of Muhammad, Shabir Yusuf makes the Quran come alive. He also explores the life and times of the prophet through a series of flashbacks, beginning with his childhood…" In 2011 he was selected for a shortlist for the 2011 Man Asian Literary Prize for his first novel.
He is also a regular on the BBC's flagship religious affairs programme, Religion & Ethics News Review, and appears regularly on Channel 4's weekly debate show, The Moral Maze.
Shabir Yusuf was born in Salford in Lancashire to a Muslim family of Pakistani origin.
