leo mercury personality type is ESFP, and that he is an ESTP. He could have been a TS/TSJ. I’ve never seen this combination, so I don’t know if it is possible.
My experience with ESTP was similar to the one in your post. He was not as verbal as you describe and his relationship with his father was not as vivid. However, he did have many commonalities. He was a very talented musician, a very good mechanic, and was very comfortable with machines. He has told me that he was often bullied in school because of his mechanical abilities. The bullying was more about his appearance than anything else. He often described his teachers as “mean” to him and said that he was often afraid of them. I have another ESTP who is like this and I think that this experience is often common among ESTPs. They are bullied because they are so different from everyone else.
I agree that he was a very sensitive person and that he was very emotional. He described his emotions as “a tsunami” and said that he had to “stamp out” all his feelings. The emotions came forth when it was “appropriate” and were very intense.
