The story begins with Aeron and his wife, Dalla, being attacked by a group of wildlings. Aeron struggles to fight off the attackers, but just as he is about to be killed by one, the Night King appears and kills the wildling. Aeron then tells his wife that he needs to go after the leader of the group that attacked them. He doesn’t want his family to be harmed again so he sets off to find this person.
Aeron ends up going to a cave where he finds a woman named Sandara who tells him that she’s a member of a group of people called The Free Folk.
