Handan personality type is ESTJ, and so is my future husband. He also has a very unusual, but very cool facial scar. This is his story.
As a child, he was constantly bullied because of his facial scar. He and his family went to a lot of doctors, who said he had a cleft palate and suggested surgery (he did not) and even a plastic surgeon came out to give him a free consult. Nothing helped. The bullies were relentless and he was horribly depressed for years. He was even given anti-anxiety medication and anti-depressants at one point by his parents.
He turned to alcohol as a way to deal with the poor self-image that resulted from the bullying and depression. He thought it would make his self-esteem go up and it did temporarily, but it destroyed his relationships with his family and friends, which led to the further destruction of his self-esteem.
He was an alcoholic for many years and tried to quit several times with no success. He tried several different types of therapy, including cognitive behavioral therapy and even some that are more alternative. After years of being in therapy he finally reached a point where he could acknowledge the fact that he needed help, rather than deny it.
