I’ve had many conversations about this with INTPs, and it seems that many of them want to believe that their thinking is concrete and logical, or else they will spend a lot of time doubting themselves – which is not the case. That is why I thought it might be useful to share a few of the more common examples of faulty logic that INTPs can get caught up in:
INTPs like to think that they have logical reasons for any action they take. They often start out with a general principle (like “because I want to be happy”) and then run through all the steps that would lead to that ultimate goal. So when something new happens, it is like they are being led by the hand without being able to think for themselves.
INTPs often fall into this trap when they think they have logical reasons for why they should love someone romantically.
