As we all know, the Emperor was Palpatine. I have always wondered if it was Palpatine who made the request to have his personality gone into the force, or if it was just his body. What we do know is that Palpatine was in fact dead when he was encased in ice and brought to a planet where they could perform medical experiments on him. The only way we can assume the Emperor is Palpatine is because of this; Palpatine’s body was never found after the second death star destroyed in Return of the Jedi. The Empire made a request to the force to return his personality into his body and his mind was restored as a result.
Sheev Palpatine is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise, created by George Lucas. Initially credited as The Emperor in the 1980 film The Empire Strikes Back, he is also known by his Sith name Darth Sidious.
