“When I came out at school, some people were pretty homophobic. Others were supportive,” she said. “I was lucky that I had really good friends, who helped me to take a step back and see things from a different perspective.”
She recalls being bullied after coming out in high school, but she didn’t let that get her down. She simply took it in stride and moved on to the next phase of her life.
“I actually turned it into a positive,” she said. “It made me more diligent when it came to dating and I used that as motivation to find myself and who I really was.”
