Ruescott Melshi was born on the 30th of March, 1992 in St. Louis, Missouri. His family moved to Racine, Wisconsin when he was 10 years old, where he attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and St. Michael Catholic High School. After graduating high school, Melshi attended St. Norbert College, where he studied business management. While at St. Norbert College, Melshi was an active member of the football team and enjoyed attending the occasional party.
During his college years, Melshi began using marijuana and alcohol regularly, eventually progressing to cocaine use. He eventually graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management with a 3.7 GPA.
At the beginning of 2014, Melshi enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve through the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR). He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment Special Operations Command (SOC) at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He completed Basic Reconnaissance training with the Marine Corps Scout Sniper Instructor Course, which is one of the most challenging courses in the Marine Corps.
