The author, author's wife, and Nemo's mother have a strong love of dolphins.
When Nemo was born, his father tested out a new kind of birth control for men, since it was thought that many men would never be able to have children. However, his father had a vasectomy, and couldn't have children, but he still loved Nemo.
Nemo's father was a high school history teacher, and he taught him to love history. He also taught him how to read, and how to write since he couldn't read or write yet.
Nemo's father has also been known to invent things, such as the Curious Little Man invention. He also created a method to make his skin look like the skin of a dolphin. His skin looks like it is covered in scales, and has some of the same physical characteristics as a dolphin's.
