INTJ personality type was originally developed by Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung, who believed that the dominant function of introversion was a survival instinct that had been designed by nature to ensure the continuation of the human species. Jung believed that the dominant function was also what allowed for humans to make decisions about the direction of their lives, and that this was an innate ability. The second function, intuition, allowed for the creative use of ideas and concepts once they were processed by the dominant function.
