“My relationship with my family has been a rollercoaster,” she said. “When I was younger I thought I was crazy because I found it hard to relate to them. They tried to understand me and they would ask me questions and I couldn’t answer. It built up inside so much that I went into my room and locked the door.”
“I thought the only way to get rid of all this unexplainable stuff was to lock myself in my room and never come out,” she said, adding that it was a coping mechanism to try and make sense of a world that was “too much.”
“I had a lot of trouble coming out of my shell,” she said. “And I turned to art and music as a way to express myself, because I didn’t want people to read me completely wrong, I wanted them to see more of me.”
The singer is now working on her third album, tentatively due in February 2016.
