But that didn't keep him from becoming a police officer, or from pursuing a career in science. Jabituya has always been interested in science, especially the biomedical sciences. He spent two years at the University of Pennsylvania studying biology and anthropology. He then went on to pursue his PhD in the same subject.
"It's a very interesting mix," he said.
