The Anguished Man is a person who, in order to protect himself, will wear a mask. This mask can be a persona of sorts that he keeps hidden behind. When he’s not wearing the mask, he is completely open and vulnerable. This is why he gets so frustrated when he can’t keep his mask on.
He will often feel as if he is being judged because of the mask he wears. If he stops wearing the mask for even a little while, he feels exposed and vulnerable. He needs to constantly wear his mask to feel protected and safe.
When the Anguished Man feels threatened in some way, he will not be able to show his true self.
