In my book, I explore this subject in depth, so I’m not going to go into too much detail here. The basic idea is that personality type is a complex blend of our genetic makeup, our experiences growing up, and the choices we make along the way. These three things influence the type of person we become, and our Eros and Psyche interact with these factors to create our unique personality type. The result is an individual combination of unique characteristics that define us as unique individuals.
There are many different personality typings out there, and I highly recommend you explore them as you read this book. I also highly recommend you explore your own personality typing. It can be very helpful to understand what makes you unique, what personal strengths you have, and what your unique “flaws” are (or aren’t). The more you know about yourself, the better-equipped you will be to take advantage of your strengths and to compensate for your weaknesses.
We all have Eros and Psyche interacting with our various factors. The interaction between Eros and Psyche can be quite complex, but that’s not really important for now.
