Rarity is listed as #1 on the Equestrian Odysseys official list of characters,[4] with her appearance in The Crystal Empire as #2.[5] Her design is based on the cartoon character Rarity from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. She wears a green coat with gold buttons, with her mane and tail green, and wings that are a mixture of blue and yellow. She has a large, heart-shaped cutie mark on her left flank. Her eyes are a sky blue, and her cutie mark is a sunflower next to a large yellow question mark.
According to a tweet by M. A. Larson, Rarity's colors are "not rainbow". In addition, she is the only character whose design was not designed by Lauren Faust.[6] Larson also revealed in a tweet that Rarity's "happiness" was the reason she was made the lead designer for the show.[7]
