Intellectualization personality type is INTP, and here is a typical description:

Intellectualizing is a way of reducing the complexity of the world to something manageable and comprehensible. Intellectuals are constantly trying to reduce everything to a problem or a question, a task or a goal, an abstract concept. They must always be thinking about something else. They are always looking for more information, another perspective, another answer. This trait can be useful in many ways. It can make an intellectual feel more competent and in control of the world around them. It can also make them feel lonely and isolated, and it can make it difficult to build close relationships with others.

The problem is that many InTPs think of themselves as being pretty smart, and they are often right, but they also tend to think they are supposed to know what other people want and need. This expectation is usually not realistic, and the INTP ends up disappointed by the people they try to relate to.

Here is an example of an INTP who was very smart and got good grades in school (because she was a very good student) but who couldn’t find a job:

    My name is Danielle.
