ISTP dominants are more interested in ideas than others, but their dominant isn't always the most important part of their character. If you focus on it too much, you end up with the wrong person.
I really like the idea of a "dominant", but I don't think it's a very good way to describe someone's personality. For one thing, it's not the same as a "subordinate". For another, it's not very useful in determining the strength of a person's personality.
