Stéphane Nelson personality type is ENFP, and I like his blog because of the same reason I like his personality type: he’s a little bit off-kilter and has a lot of different things to say, but you know if he’s saying something thoughtful.
But I came across this post on his blog yesterday, on the topic of “spirituality,” and it struck me as being extremely relevant to the idea that people on the internet are different from people in real life.
Nelson wrote:
“For my part, I have never been religious, and don’t know HOW I am spiritual. Maybe I just don’t have the things to define it–or maybe it’s just an innate sense that I have. For my part, I do believe that we are spiritual beings who can influence and develop the world around us. But I don’t think that a religion or spiritual practice is necessarily the best mechanism for doing so.”
I really like this statement. It’s not that I think spirituality is a bad thing, or that spirituality is completely unimportant. It’s just that I think spirituality is very different things for different people.
