He graduated from Georgetown University with a bachelor's degree in History. Following his graduation, he began work at the Ford Foundation and became a partner at the law firm of Covington & Burling, where he worked for 28 years.
Pazar then served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of The History Project Foundation, which he founded in 2004 with the aim of preserving, disseminating, and enhancing the historical record. He also served on the board of directors of the Turkish American National Fund, The Council on Foreign Relations, and The Migration Policy Institute.
Pazar is married to Dr. Gayle Pazar, a psychologist and professor at Georgetown University.
