Most leaders are ESTJs, including the majority of presidents and CEOs, according to the book The ESTJ Personality Profile by Dr. David Keirsey and Marilyn Bates. In the book they write that the ESTJ "is likely to have a natural ability to think abstractly, plan ahead, and organize."
But there are two types of ESTJs that are more common than others.
"The 'extroverted' ESTJ is the one who is in leadership roles and is energetic, has lots of ideas, is a problem solver, a motivator, and a go-getter," says Vaillancourt. "The 'introverted' ESTJ is the one who prefers not to be in a leadership role but fills in as needed."
