Sasaki's model is based on his experience and observations with students, who were placed on a sleep-research experiment where they were to go to bed at 11pm, and not get up until 3:30am. Students that followed this schedule for more than one night, would have their sleeping patterns recorded, and the results are consistent with his theory.
