In his first appearance, Amakasu was depicted as a young man who lost his mother at a young age and had inherited his father's business sense. He convinced his father to allow him to go to America and learn the art of business. However, his father died soon after he began studying at a university in America. In an attempt to escape his father's business, Amakasu traveled to Europe, where he met a female business partner who helped him escape his father's company.
In his second appearance, he became an evil businessman who aimed to take over the world with his organization. He was defeated by the members of the Black Organization, and was sent to prison for ten years. He was released from prison after ten years, and treated as a hero by the organization.
In his third appearance, he was released from prison and re-joined the Black Organization, where he is given a new title as the executive officer of the group. He helps Kogoro Mori in investigating a case involving a missing girl named Ai Haibara. He is initially seen as a serious man who shows little emotion, and acts as a father figure to Haibara.
