The anime adaption of Hiiro no Kakera is quite different from the manga. For example, the manga's first chapter, "The Hare and the Moon", begins with Kousei's view of his past life as a Nifuji and contains no backstory of Kousei's mother. Also, the manga portrays Takumi as the leader of his family, and Kousei as a follower, whereas the anime portrays Kousei as a follower and Takumi as the leader of his family. Finally, the anime changes many details about characters' relationships, as well as many other minor details.
