Stiles began writing for publications like the New York Times, The Guardian, and the Los Angeles Times. He also wrote for Yale University’s undergraduate newspaper, The Scroll. He graduated from Yale University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English; he also studied philosophy at Yale University.
Throughout his school years, Stiles was known as an avid reader. He would often read books on his own time, which gained him respect from other students.
He began writing for publications at a young age, but after graduating college he wanted to work as a professional writer. While looking for a journalism job, Stiles taught writing at the Yale School of Art and Design, which is where he met his current partner, actress Olivia Wilde.
