Alph Hingley "Cat" personality type is INTP, but he can be a functional INTJ (see this post). Anyway, the comment is amusing in a way, but also a bit inappropriate and I don't much care for it.
I'm sure many people find it rude and inappropriate to ask people what their "type" is and then add in that it's not the "right" type for you, unless that is indeed your point, which is I think what you are getting at, and I can see why you would think that. I think it's pretty common. But I'm not sure why you think it's rude. I think it's quite common that people want to know the type of other people. I think a lot of people want to know what's behind the facade.
But that's all well and good. If you want to know what my "type" is, just ask. If I don't want to tell you, that's fine also, but then I don't have to tell you. The INTJ personality type is often what people call "the rationalist" or the "mystic", or the "logician" or the "intellectual" and it's an interesting type.
