August "Ballistic" Montgomery Brinkman personality type is ENTJ, and the "Ballistic" personality type in Alexander's book is ENTP. I agree that the "Ballistic" personality type is probably a more accurate description of the Brinkman personality type, but I don't see how that explains how the two personality types might be related. The ENTJ and ENTP are both "Masterminds" (the Brinkman types are "Masterminds with a Plan"), and the two personality types are clearly different from each other; their function scores are clearly different.
I agree that the ENTJ and ENTP are very different from each other, but according to the MBTI, there is no personality type that is different from the ENTJ or ENTP, and so I don't see how the Brinkman types "could be" that different from the MBTI types.
I think the most likely explanation for the difference between the MBTI types and the Brinkman types, is that the Brinkman types are related to MBTI types by virtue of their use of MBTI-like language, and not by virtue of any actual differences between the Brinkman types and MBTI types.
