Gotye personality type is INFP, the loner. I’ve also seen INTP and ENTP. This is not a particularly rare personality type, but it is a rare one that seems to be more common in the world of indie rock and electronic music. I don’t think this means that these artists are more introverted or neurotic, but these artists tend to write from the perspective of a loner. They often communicate via text message or email, and they tend to be introverted in real life.
You can see from the videos below that Odd Future is full of INTPs. I was drawn to these artists because they seem very introverted, and also they’re popular. This is not a coincidence.
The most famous of these is probably Michael Jackson, who was very introverted and read constantly in order to get in touch with his feelings. Another is Kanye West, who was constantly in touch with himself, constantly writing songs about himself in the third person. David Bowie is also a loner, constantly documenting his thoughts and his moods, which is why everyone has a copy of his diaries.
