In the final episode of season 1, after his squad was selected for a secret Operation, he is seen at a briefing where they are told that they have been chosen for a mission that had been going on for a long time, and that they will be going into a dangerous location. Later on, he is seen looking over a map of the area, and then the camera pans up to his face. He is obviously confused as to where they are going.
In the opening of the first episode of season 2, he is seen at a meeting with General Amaro and Admiral Yassen. He looks upset as he is being grilled by the admiral, who has been asking him about the circumstances of his promotion and why he continues to be involved in all these secret operations. He is also seen talking about whether or not he believes that he should be promoted and then why they continue to send him on these missions. He looks like he is stressed out and doesn't know how to handle this. He then tells the admiral that they will not be taking part in the upcoming operation, as he is very unsure about his feelings regarding it.
