History of the OTO
The Ordo Templi Orientis (OTO) is an international fraternal occult order founded in the last decade of the nineteenth century by Aleister Crowley and Gerald Gardner. Unlike many other occult orders, the OTO is not based upon a single book (or a tribe of secret books), but upon a series of different works that Crowley believed to be genuine channels of the divine. The purpose of the OTO is to allow members to obtain wisdom through initiation into the occult mysteries.
