Yi Suchong personality type is INTP, and he's definitely a very interesting character.
You're making a great point about how many of these characters fulfill such important roles in the narrative. I think it's interesting that Isaac is such a huge villain in the story, yet he's the only one that really matters. Admittedly, I'm not a fan of Nietzsche's "will to power" concept, but I think it's an interesting way to look at the whole idea of the combine. I think it adds a lot to the story, and makes it a lot deeper than just a bunch of evil robots taking over the world.
WTF is the combine, and why would they want to take over the world? It's like if Aliens took over the world and wanted to exterminate all humans. The only thing the combine want is to control people, and use them as batteries to power their technology. This is a very humanist view of them. People might think they're evil, but they're really only after survival and power. The Combine (or at least Dr. Kleiner and Dr. Magnusson) are not evil, they're just trying to survive and use technology to do it.
