Matvey Koretskiy personality type is INTP, so it's not surprising that he doesn't like people telling him what to do. But, he also hates being told to do duties he's not qualified for. I know, I know, that's an awful thing to say. But, it's true. He's the kind of guy who wasn't qualified to be the best player on a professional baseball team, but he did it anyway, and then he got fired for it. He's not a "good enough" person for his team, but he finds himself in a role where he has to be.
After Koretskiy was let go by the Reds, he kind of disappeared and then resurfaced in the Red Sox organization. He left the Reds after being traded to the Tigers in exchange for minor league pitcher Kyle McArthur, but the Tigers decided not to keep him. He had a pretty good year with the Red Sox in 2016, but you could tell that his game was beginning to decline. He was still an above-average hitter, but his defense was starting to show his age.
He's still a solid hitter, and he can still hit for a decent average if he can get on base.
