This is a concept that I have followed for some time now and was led to believe that it would be a good way to classify people by their personalities. Wernicke-Korsakoff Syndrome Also known as Korsakoff's psychosis, this is a condition related to thiamine deficiency that has devastating effects on the brains' ability to store information. The word "acute" means "disease of recent onset", whereas "chronic" means "long standing". The concept of this syndrome comes from the fact that the affected individual seems to experience short term memory loss, but if they are given a substance called thiamine (a B-vitamin), they are able to recall new information. If they are given a substance called alcohol, they are able to recall previously lost memories. However, this is not the case with all cases, and sometimes the short term memory loss associated with Korsakoff's syndrome is permanent. The concept of this syndrome comes from the fact that the affected individual seems to experience short term memory loss, but if they are given a substance called thiamine (a B-vitamin), they are able to recall new information.
