Sherlock Holmes personality type is INTP, as confirmed by Isabel Briggs Myers. But as this theory is about Sherlock's personality, not his type, it is irrelevant. I also looked up Sherlock's Myers Briggs type and found that his was definitely INTP.
The big problem with this theory is that we don't know where he got his skills from. It's possible that Sherlock was born genius and it's his skill that makes him a genius: we just don't know how he got this skill. The other problem is that Sherlock was obviously bad at sports and socializing, so it's unlikely he would have gotten those skills from his parents.
I tried to debunk this theory by pointing out that it's impossible to be a genius and also a complete social failure. But this didn't work: the author of The Case of the Pearl Necklace stuck to his guns and made a case for it. So I said that if we assume that Sherlock was a genius and he didn't get those skills from his family, then we should assume that he got them from other sources: like other geniuses, other people who were basically like real-life Sherlock, people who were similar to him, etc...
