Akira Ibe personality type is ISFP, but he is best known for his work as a singer, primarily as the lead vocalist for the post-hardcore band The Gazette.
He is of Japanese descent. He was born in San Diego, California, and later moved to his parents' native Japan. He returned to the United States at the age of 17 and recorded his first album, The Flickering Lights of America, with fellow San Diego musician Chris Cooper. In 2000, he released the EP self-titled Akira Ibe which featured a cover of the song "Heatwave" originally performed by Martha and the Vandellas.
Ibe later joined the hardcore band The Gazette and toured with them until October 2005. According to Ibe's MySpace page, he departed the band due to personal issues with the other members, and was replaced by Ryan Kirby. However, this was only the most recent chapter in the band's career, as Ibe's departure had little to do with an on-stage disagreement with the other members. In fact, the band had decided to take a break from touring, and Ibe had decided to pursue other interests.
