Overview: Turtwig is a Grass type Pokemon that evolves from Grotle. Turtwig's pretty much a Grass type version of Grotle that has a better base stats and a different ability, Overgrow. If you have a Grotle in your party and it's not evolved yet, you can evolve it into a Turtwig at level 16. Like Grotle, Turtwig is a bulky, tanky Pokemon with access to great moves and a great ability combination.
In terms of competitive play, Turtwig is very effective as a physical wall with great physical bulk and an excellent ability combination. It can take hits relatively well and has access to several good moves.
