I should also point out, while I think JKR is a good writer, that she is not a good philosopher. She often leaves things unaddressed in both the books and the movies. The most glaring example of this is Dumbledore's Army. She never tells us why Dumbledore felt that Harry should join the DA. It is not necessary to have such a group in order to fight against Voldemort, he could have simply told them to stop doing it. It is also not necessary for Harry to have become a member of the DA in order to defeat Voldemort. In book 5, the trio saved a bunch of people from a basilisk, which resulted in Harry knowing what a Horcrux was, which in turn was the only thing that enabled him to defeat Voldemort. In book 6, Harry throws a curse that could have killed him, and yet he survives because of Dumbledore's sacrifice. In book 7, Harry defeats Voldemort without even knowing about the prophecy, without any help from Dumbledore's Army.
