Epstein is an INTP or ENTJ, but he believes the theory of cognitive dissonance explains why people over-generalize, and why they can't see their own biases. He believes cognitive dissonance is not limited to just politics. It is just as important in our personal lives. He believes that people are biased because they are always looking for evidence that supports their viewpoint, and they are blind to the evidence that supports the other side.
