Kevin Smith personality type is INTJ, so he is hard to label. He is obviously not a very good scientist, even though he claims to have done some research and studies into the psychological aspects of the character, but he apparently has a PhD in philosophy. That seems pretty good, but it could be a fake and worse, he could have been studying the psychology of someone else and trying to apply it to his own character.
He is also very much a writer. Nothing says “writer” like a PhD in philosophy. To make matters worse, he is a comedian and has a pretty good sense of humor. The joke is on you if you don’t get it, I guess.
Maybe he is simply an INTJ to begin with and the role of his character was merely an extension of his own personality and abilities. The character is clearly a flawed one because of all the things that are wrong with him, but that does not necessarily mean that Smith himself is flawed. He could just be an INTJ who naturally possesses the personality and abilities needed to portray the character and make it believable.
