"I think it's something that is unique to 'The X-Files', in the sense that it's two characters that are inextricably linked," he says. "It's literally impossible to separate them. They're literally the same person in the way that they both exist in the world, and they both have these, you know, particular moral compasses, and they both have this sort of, sometimes, split personality dilemma. It's just very interesting to me to write these two characters."
"Mulder and Scully are really different characters, but they're both characters that exist in the world, and that is an interesting place to be," he continues. "And I think that what I like about both of them is that they're just always looking for the truth. They're always trying to figure out what's really going on, what's really happening."
