Tobi Vail personality type is INTP, and she is both a former and current member of the band. Critics and fans alike have called her vision and originality "unimaginable," and after years and years of hard work, she has finally made an album that fits right in with her vision.
It may be silly to say that the reason why I like the album so much is because it's the first album I listened to by Tobi Vail. To be completely honest, I went into this album without any expectations whatsoever. I was just curious to see what she could do if she had full creative control, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well she pulled it off.
The album is divided into two major sections: "Basic" and "Alter." The first half of the album, "Basic," is pretty much just her singing and playing an acoustic guitar. This section is absolutely gorgeous and may very well be my favorite part of the entire album. She takes a more minimalistic approach, which is why this section is so beautiful.
The second half of the album, "Alter," is where it gets weird.
Tobi Celeste Vail (born July 20, 1969) is an independent musician, music critic and feminist from Olympia, Washington. She was a central figure in the riot grrl scene—she coined the spelling of "grrl"—and she started the zine Jigsaw. A drummer, guitarist and singer, she was a founding member of the band Bikini Kill. Vail has collaborated in several other bands figuring in the Olympia music scene. Vail writes for eMusic.
