What is it like to work on the same show with actors who are so different from each other? Do you have to keep all of them separate in your head?
I have to do it a little bit. I mean, I remember when Peter Dinklage was on Game of Thrones, he would always do his own thing, and he would never talk to anyone else. If he was going to work on his own, he would go to a different set than everyone else. But we’re all so used to working with one another that we all sort of work together. And I think that’s why it feels so natural. And I think that’s what makes it so good because you can tell when someone is trying to pull something funny.
The show is about a guy who has been through so much — a war, a divorce, and then he lost his daughter and his wife. How is he still able to keep a sense of humor?
