How many people can say they’ve made it? Not many. But one of them was Bob Marley.

Bob Marley’s career was an uphill struggle. He was rejected by his first record company. His second record company dropped him. His third record company did the same thing.

Then, at the age of 27, he created his own record label called Tuff Gong, and released his first album.

However, Bob’s music wasn’t well received. Many people were turned off by his dark, reggae-style music. And even though his song “One Love” became a worldwide hit in the early 1980s, he was still struggling to make ends meet.

Bob’s story is a typical example of how difficult it can be to break into the music industry. But he refused to give up.

He continued to release albums, and eventually became an international star in the 1980s.

Perhaps the most significant accomplishment in Bob Marley’s life was when he played live at the Live Aid concert in 1985.

Robert Nesta Marley, OM (6 February 1945 – 11 May 1981) was a Jamaican singer-songwriter who became an international musical and cultural icon, blending mostly reggae, ska, and rocksteady in his compositions. Starting out in 1963 with the group the Wailers, he forged a distinctive songwriting and vocal style that would later resonate with audiences worldwide. The Wailers would go on to release some of the earliest reggae records with producer Lee "Scratch" Perry. After the Wailers disbanded in 1974, Marley pursued a solo career upon his relocation to England that culminated in the release of the album Exodus in 1977, which established his worldwide reputation and elevated his status as one of the world's best-selling artists of all time, with sales of more than 75 million records.
