The story is set out in a very linear way, with the main characters moving from point A to point B, and there is no exploration of the worlds. But I can certainly see how this could be a good thing for the young reader. The story begins with a bang and it doesn't let up, and it's essentially a kid's book, so the author doesn't need to go into excruciating detail about every single place and thing that happens.
The story is told from the perspective of the little ghost, and it's an interesting idea that works really well. The ghost character is such a sweet kid, and she's completely fascinating. I loved her passion for art and her desire to become a great painter, which was a very realistic obsession for a young girl. She's fascinated by the real world and she's happy to spend her time exploring it, but she's also a bit lonely and there's a large gap between herself and the real world.
I loved her interactions with her family. Her parents are very supportive of her goals and they have a very close relationship with each other, which is very important for a family.
PASTEL GHOST is a dreamwave artist based in Brooklyn, NY. She self-released two EPs, Dark Beach EP and Shadows EP, before signing to 80s Ladies Records for the release of her debut full-length album, Abyss. The album was released on March 10, 2015 digitally and as a limited edition CD available on Bandcamp.
