Republicanism personality type is ESFJ, as I am, and I have also found that ESFJs are the most likely personality type to be drawn to the Republican party. The most common theory as to why is that Republicans are perceived as the more “openminded,” “sympathetic,” “compassionate,” and “noble” party. This perception has not been proven to be true – it is just a stereotype – but it is an interesting idea to consider.

Another reason that I believe that Republicans appeal to so many Extraverted Sensing types like myself is that they tend to be more “logical” in their political beliefs. This is true of most other political parties as well, but I believe that there is something about being a Republican that encourages this behavior. For example, if there is a debate over whether or not to raise or lower taxes on the rich, the Republicans will tend to come down on the side of lowering taxes, while the Democrats will tend to come down on the side of raising taxes.

Republicanism is a political ideology centered on citizenship in a state organized as a republic. Historically, it ranges from the rule of a representative minority or oligarchy to popular sovereignty. It has had different definitions and interpretations which vary significantly based on historical context and methodological approach.
